Diagnosing Your Pet
Abdominal ultrasound is a valuable diagnostic tool that allows us to see a detailed picture of your pet’s liver, kidneys, spleen, gastrointestinal tract, and other internal organs. It can be very useful to help in figuring out what could be the cause of your pet’s ailments. It uses sound waves that bounce off the tissues to give us this picture. We have a specialist come to our clinic every other Monday for abdominal ultrasounds.
Echocardiography, or an echo, uses this same technology to give us a real-time picture of the heart. If your veterinarian hears a murmur in your pet’s heart, this test may be recommended to diagnose the cause of the murmur. This test helps the doctor to look at the chambers of the heart, the valves, and how well the heart is pumping. At this time we do not have a cardiologist come to the clinic and have been referring patients out for these.
